Camp participants experience a Google Expedition

On April 17th, members of the MORIC Model Schools team hosted their second regional technology camp for middle school girls. Students, and and staff members, from schools across the Jefferson-Lewis BOCES region traveled to Calcium Primary School in the Indian River Central School District to attend this exciting event.

Approximately 50 girls from 4th to 8th grade came together to learn about the latest technologies through team-building and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) related challenges. Students engaged in multiple breakout sessions focused on coding, virtual reality, and critical thinking.  Throughout the day, students also learned about several famous women who have had an instrumental role in global innovation and the development of new technologies.

Laurie Yager and Allison Blackwell once again acted as the key organizers for the event. Model Schools Coordinators Heather Bagnall, Heather Shaffer, Kristin Spinella, and Tanya Snyder also facilitated exciting breakout sessions.
